Wind - About max 15knots
Kite - Ozone C4 10m
Water - Small waves but clean and some chop - max 1.5m
Aim to ENJOY!!
After my first session here I encountered 2 days of no wind which I really suffered from, I was homesick, bored and lethargic. I am sure that Essaouira has plenty to offer when not kiting but I had no enthusiasm to find out. I think I was potentially travelled out from Lanza with Caz and Vyx. So I just chilled and got a little depressed if I am honest. I finished Harry Potter 6 which, I hasten to add, did not help as the ending really wasn't conducive to being happy!! So I was pleased that the forecast for afternoon wind finally came in.
I had a couple of hours on the water in total, wave riding takes it out of you so much more than the flat glass of Egypt. I always though it would be harder but this is unreal. I had no real aims today other than to enjoy the water and that I did. I have finally found a cute spot where the sets are regular and the wind direction lets you get upwind enough for you to play on the waves instead of just being beaten up by them. I am sure this is mostly in part due to my awesome new board (not so new now) as she is great for upwind ability and enough flex to cope with the waves, even for a very small (in comparison) freestyle board. I also think I am becoming much more competent with my kiting, confidence and balls are growing and I am really looking forward to getting on flat water again to practise what I have learned.
This is an awesome spot and I am really looking forward to spending more time on the water as the forecast looks good for the next few days, it is a great place to learn but it can be a little gusty - hey so is England!!
Looking forward to tomorrow!!
