Wind – 12 – 14 knots
Kite – Ozone C4 10m
Conditions – waves small but fun
Aim to practise me toe to heel again
For the first time on this leg of the trip I have managed to get a good night’s sleep and managed to eat some food without feeling sick straight afterwards. So I awake early, full of energy ready to take on the day and guess what?? Sods law – no fucking wind!!
I pump up the 10m and try anyway and after my kite falling out of the sky for the third time I give up and decide to get a beer! The Vagabond Cafe team were welcoming as always. For those of you who have thoughts that Morocco is full of men who will hassle you, this is not the case with Essaouira. Yes there are a few people who are keen to get you into their shops but nothing on the scale of Marrakesh, which for me travelling alone is a warming thought. The staff at Vagabond look after me and their food is spectacular and the wine and beer equally as good!!
After a rest in the cafe I decide that I really need to try and get back on the water. I launch and off I go, a little more wind than before and I get to playing back the waves again which I have really, and surprisingly, enjoyed. I was on the water for about an hour in the end and the wind got progressively less and less so I decided to call it a day and pack up.
I didn’t do anything that night, I was tired after a total of about 2 hours in the waves and just wanted to chat to Ben online to be honest! So I went back to the ever welcoming Riad Zahra and enjoyed a second dish of spaghetti Bolognese then to bed!!
